You are different from my last client.

That’s why our work together needs to be curated to meet your needs. Whether your writing needs a critical overhaul, a light polish, or you simply need a hand putting together a submission to a publisher, we’re going to make it happen.

  • £30 per 1,000 words

Two steps back from the closer copyedits and proofreads, a development edit will look at the work as a whole—how it is structured, the flow and tone of the voice and language, continuity and the overall sense of the work. You’ll need me for this once your first, full draft is finished, before you begin adjusting the finer details.

  • £25 per 1,000 words

More in-depth than a standard proofread, copyediting interrogates the qualities of each sentence individually. This will include subtle changes in language or phrasing, the correction of any encountered errors, and many other qualities which enhance the overall experience for the reader. As with all my editorial services, I am open to receiving projects of any length, no matter how big or small.

  • £20 per 1,000 words

I have undertaken proofreading jobs for almost every client I have come into contact with. It is an essential, continuous process when dealing with the written word. Nothing complicated here, just grammatical tweaks, spelling correction, and all the small things I can’t help but notice.

  • £10 per 1000 words + £10 per report

An editorial report is a detailed, critical breakdown of your manuscript’s strengths and weaknesses. Not only that, it’s packed with constructive markers for improvement, tips to help you build on your work, professional insight into your plot, themes, and characters, and even an overview of your potential publishing opportunities. This report is a magnifying glass over your work.

  • £500

This package includes all the essentials you need to approach a publisher of your choosing, including: (1) a proofread of the first 10,000 words of your manuscript, (2) an industry-grade synopsis, (3) a bespoke letter accompanying your submission to the publisher, and (4) aftercare to help you with any questions they ask in response to your initial submission.

“Samuel has undertaken a couple of projects for me on aspects of editing for which he is eminently more qualified. I would recommend Samuel for editing work at any level; his enjoyment of and pride in his work shows!”
